Marcelyn Lenora Batchelor

SAVANNAH - Marcelyn Lenora Batchelor, 83, died on Sunday, October 13, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents Bernice E. Weitman and Clair E. Weitman of Tattnall County.

She graduated from Glennville High, Class of 1946. After graduation she moved to Atlanta, at age 17, and worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone. She later moved to Savannah and worked as an operator for the Savannah Police Department retiring after 28 years. She was a loving, caring mother who raised four children as a single parent. Marcelyn was a devout and religious individual who attended First Baptist Church of Pembroke.

Survivors include four children: Danny Karen DeLoach, Debi Cliff Richards, Mike Julia DeLoach, and Milton Samantha Batchelor; Nine grandchildren: Amelia Sean Nickerson, Caroline Hunter Terry, Chris Nicole Barnes, Jimmy Molly Barnes, Danny Tahira Barnes, Kathleen Rex Benton, Michael Sarah DeLoach, Daniel DeLoach, Randi Lynn Bobby Creech and Mathew Cook. She had fourteen great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Fox and Weeks on Hodgson Memorial Drive on Saturday, October 19, from 9 to 10am. The Funeral Service at Fox and Weeks will follow from 10 to 11 am.

At 2:00 pm graveside service will be held at Watermelon Creek Church Cemetery, Glennville, Tattnall County.

Although I did not personally know Ms. Batchelor, I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest sympathy to your family. No doubt the loss of such a dear loved one will be felt by many. Our God, the Creator, yearns to bring back those who have died Job 14:13-15. May this and the many other promises in God's word the Bible continue to comfort your family.
